Brief Description

Air Conditioning and EPA Technician Certification

These courses are to prepare individuals in the field of air conditioning and heat pump maintenance to review the procedures, techniques, and requirements for maintaining these systems as well as to take the EPA Technician Examination, which will be given at the last class. Experience is beneficial, as these are fastpaced courses which assume previous knowledge.

Internet Design and Technology Certificate

The Internet Design and Technology Certificate program will prepare you for numerous career opportunities in Web design and development. We start out with the basics of Web and graphic design technologies to form a strong foundation. You will then choose track options in either Web design or multimedia design to focus your skills toward an emphasis that suits your career. In a final capstone class you will complete a comprehensive Web based project utilizing the knowledge and skills you have learned.

Maintenance Management Certificate Program

Four informative and practical two-day sessions are offered to teach effective planning, predictive/preventive maintenance, vendor relations, management, priorities, time management, labor relations, communications, budgeting, standards, controlling, measuring, appraising, and improving maintenance performance. These powerful sessions combine instruction with a variety of participant teaching methods--all designed for you to make significant improvements in your organization.

Microsoft Office Certificate Program

In this age of information and technology, documented competence in computing can give you a competitive edge in the workplace. These programs will give you theoretical and fundamental knowledge as well as hands-on training in using computer software applications. This program provides certification of your knowledge and skills in different areas and levels of the Microsoft Office family of products.

Mini-Certificate In Wage and Salary

This certificate will provide Human Resource Generalists with in-depth knowledge and information regarding wage and salary. To earn this mini certificate, you must complete four one-day seminars. The first two courses will be offered in the Fall of 2007; the second two courses in the Spring of 2008. These classes are sequential; they must be taken in the order listed. Two of these courses may be applied to the Certificate in Human Resource Management.

Non-Profit Management

This program provides opportunities for persons employed or interested in a career in the non-profit arena to gain management skills, acquire knowledge and understanding about the full range of management requirements, and explore strategic directions for the future needs of non-profits.

Operational Excellence Certificate Program

Today there are several very powerful operational improvement methodologies available to help executives, directors, and mangers. They include Process Mapping, Six Sigma, Lean, Reengineering, Activity Based Costing, and Continuous Improvement. Each methodology has inherent strengths and specific situations where they are best applied. Four informative and practical two-day classes give participants hands-on practice and knowledge for each of these operational improvement methods. Students will learn to use Six Sigma for quality related problems, Lean for time reduction issues, and Activity Based Costing for understanding and controlling process costs. Faced with multiple challenges in an organization, students will learn to use the best methodology for specific problems.

Personal Fitness Trainer Certification Get all the information you need to become a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer. This course is taught over a five-week period to accommodate busy schedules and for better retention and skill competency. The national exam is held on the sixth week of class. Fifteen hours of practical hands-on training prepares you to work with clients one on one. An additional 15 hours in the classroom cover anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, muscle and skeletal injuries, health screening and more.

Professional Payroll Certification

Sponsored by the American Payroll Association, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Division of Educational Outreach presents the PayTrain College & University program for payroll professionals. Comprised of two professional development courses, PayTrain Fundamentals and PayTrain Mastery, this program is designed for all levels of payroll administration. Whether you are interested in preparing for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification exams, or are new to the industry and need to learn the basics of payroll, our courses will help you meet your goals.

Professional Purchasing And Supply Chain Certificate

Four informative and practical two-day sessions are offered to teach effective prioritization, sourcing, planning, supply chain and inventory considerations, cost control, legal aspects, time management, standards, improving supplier relations, negotiations, cost price analysis, contracting, on-time delivery, improved supply quality and quantity, value added purchases, life cycle costing, reducing inbound freight costs, standards, ethics, measuring, appraising and improving purchasing and supply chain performance. These powerful sessions combine instruction with a variety of participant teaching methods-all designed for you to make significant improvements in your organization.

Public Relations Skills Learn from practicing PR pros and obtain a professional certificate to document your new skills and knowledge. If you are seeking employment or advancement in employee communications, media relations, advertising, community relations or special events, you will learn valuable skills in this comprehensive program. The curriculum has been assembled and reviewed by a committee of public relations professionals representing UNLV faculty and a cross section of Southern Nevada business and government agencies.

Warehousing Management Certificate Program

Four informative and practical two-day sessions are offered to teach effective order picking, packing, warehouse layout, locator systems, planning, assignment, delegation, labor relations, prioritization, management, supervision, equipment selection, inventory control, budgeting, cost control, reduction in inventory investment, forecasting, time management, motivation, standards, managing warehousing projects, reducing stockouts, standards, measuring, appraising and improving warehouse performance. These powerful sessions combine instruction with a variety of participant teaching methods-all designed for you to make significant improvements in your organization.
